If you have leftover mac n cheese, try this easy mac n cheese bites recipe for a delicious appetizer or lunch. Cooking them in the air fryer is so much healthier than deep frying as you only need a little bit of oil.
It makes them super crispy too!

Easy Mac N Cheese Bites Air Fryer Recipe
Ingredients
- Leftover Mac n Cheese (if you need a recipe use our one below – smoke it for extra flavour or use a pan for ease)
You can also try this one done in a pan if you like.
- 3 tbsp cornflour
- 1 beaten egg
- 3 tbsp Panko breadcrumbs
Simply roll your leftover mac n cheese into a palm sized ball, dip in cornflour, then egg and finally panko breadcrumbs.
Place each mac n cheese ball inside the air fryer tray. Check out the Instagram video below to help you understand the process better.
Spray each mac n cheese ball with a little olive oil spray as the video shows.
Cook for 15-20 minutes at 180C (356F) turning the bites over halfway through.
Ranch Dip for Air Fried Mac N Cheese Bites
- 1 tbsp good quality mayo
- 1 tbsp sour cream
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice (substitute vinegar if you need to)
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tsp freshly chopped parsley
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
Mac and Cheese Bites in the Oven
Alternatively you can cook your mac n cheese bites in the oven in a muffin tray for around 25-30 minutes at 392F or 200C.
Mac and Cheese Bites in the Deep Fat Fryer
Although the air fryer is a healthier way to make mac and cheese bites, if you want to do them in the deep fat fryer use a neutral oil such as canola or peanut oil. They will only take about 10 minutes to crisp up in this hot oil environment.
